Description

The Working at Heights Site Safety Training is an interactive, competency-based learning experience designed to build foundational awareness and applied understanding of safe work practices when performing tasks above ground level. The training is structured to engage learners in identifying risks, applying preventive controls, and demonstrating correct safety behaviors through realistic scenarios. It emphasizes not just compliance, but behavioural change — encouraging learners to think critically about how to eliminate, substitute, or mitigate height-related hazards before work begins.

Through a progressive sequence of learning stages, participants are introduced to the core principles of height safety: understanding what constitutes “working at height,” recognizing the importance of hazard assessment, selecting the right equipment, and applying best practice in the use of ladders, scaffolds, and PPE. The learning design reinforces the hierarchy of control — encouraging the replacement or elimination of height work wherever feasible — and integrates key regulatory concepts such as permits, medical fitness, and verification of competency.

By combining situational awareness, procedural knowledge, and decision-making under simulated site conditions, the training cultivates both cognitive and psychomotor learning outcomes. Learners leave the module not only understanding safety requirements but also internalizing the reasoning behind them, enabling safer, more compliant behaviors on-site.
