Nuclear reactions

Description

This lesson teaches the student about the force that holds atoms together, the force that pushes charged particles apart, about combining nuclei which is called nuclear fusion, and nuclear reaction energy.

Student will learn about: atomic structure basics, isotopes, charge, electromagnetic force, nucelar force, nuclear fusion, nuclear reaction energy.

Prerequsites

Completion of the Atomic Structure module.

Learning objectives

  • Name the important features of the atom and atomic reactions
  • Describe the force that holds atoms together, and the force that pushes charged particles apart
  • Understand how the fusion of light nuclei and the fission of heavy nuclei releases energy.
